The roots of the company go back to 1976 when Margaretha and Wolfgang Ley founded their first fashion house, which later became ESCADA AG. In November 2009, the worldwide business of former ESCADA AG was acquired by ESCADA Luxembourg S.à r.l., a company indirectly owned by a trust of the Mittal family.

Today, ESCADA Luxembourg S.à r.l. is the parent company of the ESCADA Group consisting of 18 international subsidiaries.
